The Ladder

Awhile back I was painting in our youth room. I usually don't mind heights. But I got up to the top of some of the real big ladders the weigh about 500 pounds. I climbed them like 100 times that day. I would just get up there, throw one leg over the top so I could hang on, and paint away. I was confident of not falling because the ladder was sturdy.

Well I happened to get on another ladder recently. It wasn't a very sturdy ladder. It had to lean against against a wall to stand. I was afraid to be on it. The it caused me to think about how that can be related to a Christian's way in life.

Sometimes in life you are either climbing up the right or wrong side of the ladder. If you go up the wrong side, the bars are farther apart, which makes climbing harder. Down the wrong path in life leads to struggle. But that doesn't mean that you won't struggle in your life going down the right path either. If you go up the correct side of the ladder, the climb can be easier, but real question is, what kind of ladder are you climbing? Is it stable and supportive? Or is it flimsy and wobbly? That ladder can resemble a support group in your life. Are there supportive people to life you up so you can keep going? If there aren't, it'll be hard to climb that ladder if it isn't supporting you very well. You will become nervous, unconfident, discouraged, and will have a great risk of falling. Getting to the top of that ladder to do your work is the goal.

What's your ladder like? Is it tall, strong, sturdy, and supportive? Does it have any special features or attachments?
