What I learned:
I've learned a lot over the 5 days. Before the mission trip, I asked
God to teach me something new or just help me to realize things in my
life that I need to change.
Complaining:
I learned that I shouldn't just complain about things
that aren't even that bad. Like on the prayer walk, we met someone who
had back problems. All they had was a rotating fan to stay cool. They
didn't have any A/C nor did they have the strength to do much. And I
was. Complaining about the heat from walking from the van to the
house! I felt so stupid that I was being selfish and a whiner. So I
asked God to forgive me.
People Don't Always Listen to Me:
While we were packing up to go to Scammon. I asked if we needed extra napkins, since we didn't have any the past few times. Nobody says anything. So we end up needing napkins.
On the last day, Del tells Brent, Josh, and I to go put the water, gatorade, and pop in the cooler thing. I finished the water, but it took the TWO guys forever to stack the pop. I kept saying to stack them on their sides instead of upright. But nobody listened, and so came tumbling down the pop. But one thing is, I got some free Dr. Pepper because a can had busted.
The Need for More Contacts:
Here I learned that some people won't answer their phones, even when there's a tornado.
My Cell Phone Battery:
Here I learned that I shouldn't be worried when my battery reaches 80%. I should be worried when it reaches 16%.
Injuries: Wasp sting, Falling off a big sewer pipe backwards, Tripped many times, A bruise from the smashing my side, Sores, Cuts, Falling out of the bounce house, My back hurt
I didn't care. They were worth it!
Weir was awesome! I got to spend time with me greatest best friends. I got to work with children. I think I've mastered my parenting voice. :D I got to know my friends more. Especially Stephen, my associate pastor who is weird, funny, and awesome. We all got a lot of work done in 5 days. I've never worked that hard in my life before. There was probably less than thirty people there. Oh yeah, if Josh hadn't told me about the Weir Mission Trip, our three from FSBC Coffeyville, wouldn't have been there. Thank you, Josh! I miss doing the VBS. I miss Lydia, Hannah, and Isaac. My favs! lol. I defiantly came back with a tan, sores, muscles, and memories. God blessed me with another opportunity to serve.
See part 2 for my favorite quotes and moments.
*I might add more to my note later on.
